GET TO KNOW

MR. & MRS. SMITH

Matt & Marcy Smith are the proud owners of this slice of paradise called The Stone Barn. But, they certainly aren’t your typical owners. They’re so laid back and chill. You can always find Marcy’s smiling sweet face behind the counter and Matt working his magic with a pizza peel at the wood fired oven. The Stone Barn is stoked by their heart & soul.

“Who knew a fun summer gig in 2014 for us would develop into a love for the place, people & the pizza! The Stone Barn had a piece of our hearts since day 1.”

~ Matt & Marcy

LIFE AT THE ‘BARN WITH

MATT & MARCY

From Mid-May to Mid-October, Matt & Marcy live and breathe The Stone Barn. They live super close with their two boys and two dogs! In the off-season, Marcy is a school counselor and Matt is a youthfully retired Social Studies teacher who keeps busy finding lots of odds-and-ends projects to do around the property.

WE ARE MADE BY HISTORY

THE ORIGINAL FARM

The Stone Barn was built in 1896 as a part of the largest farm in what is now known as Norwegian Valley. Encompassing over 1,000 acres, the farm was originally established by the Olson family.

RESTORATION

Pam Taylor bought the farm in 1991 and began restoring the 5 bedroom Victorian brick house and 4 barns that surround it. The final restoration had been the huge old Stone Barn. The 50' by 100' barn had collapsed in the 1980's, leaving only the stone wall foundation. Rather than demolish the walls which had stood for over a century, Pam decided to create the unique setting that stands today. Pam opened The Stone Barn in 2006 and ran the restaurant for years with her husband Dave. Matt and Marcy Smith fell in love with the restaurant they had been working at for two years, and with Pam and Dave's blessing, took over ownership in 2016.
